In honor of National Coffee Day on September 29th, our team at Stella Blu is taking a moment to look at some of the finest dessert martinis around. From the ever-popular Espresso Martini to our signature Midnight Express, the options are vast and always satisfying.

Why coffee for dessert?

After dinner coffee has been enjoyed for centuries. Some believe drinking coffee aids in digestion. Others find it a traditional matter. However, if you’re planning on offering such a selection to your guests, knowing the trick is a must. What trick? Well, it’s simple, really. When thinking about after dinner coffee, you must present options different than your morning cup of Joe. Sure, you could serve a regular cup of caffeinated or decaf coffee. But, serving an after dinner coffee cocktail is always a fun choice.

Let’s talk espresso.

It’s true that espresso contains less caffeine than filtered coffee. However, espresso appears stronger because of the high concentrate consumed in a smaller amount of time. As the perfect pick me up after a filling dinner, it was only a matter of time before espresso was combined with dessert.

Or, better yet, cocktails.

Believe it or not, the espresso martini is a relatively new creation brought about in the 1980s by London bartender Dick Bradsel. Originally called the Vodka Espresso, this after dinner cocktail quickly became one of the most highly consumed martinis (aside from a traditional vodka or gin martini, of course).

Midnight Express. You can thank us later.

Here at Stella Blu, we love taking the traditional to the next level. So, naturally, enhancing the beloved espresso martini was top on the list. Don’t worry; you can certainly enjoy the best espresso martini in town here. However, if you’re looking to change things up a bit – the Midnight Express is a must-try.

This martini combines a shot espresso with espresso and vanilla vodkas, as well as chocolate liquor. Sound delicious? We promise it is undoubtedly one dessert martini you’ll want to save room for.
