When it comes to the best restaurants in Nashua, there is one thing that many of them have in common – good food and even better drinks. Well, maybe not all of them. First opening our doors as downtown’s only martini bar, the Stella Blu brand has evolved into something bigger, better, and always delicious (or thirst quenching). Which leads us to our focus, margaritas.

The history of the margarita.

With one of our favorite margarita drinking days recently passing, how do we not talk about this beloved drink? However, to the surprise of many, the margarita is a fairly new cocktail to arrive at the scene. It’s said that the first margarita ever made was around 1938. Of course, we don’t know how true this story is, but here’s how it goes.

Carlos ‘Danny” Herrera, the manager of Hotel Garci Crespo in Tehuacan, Puebla, Mexico, credited with making the first margarita. The salt-rimmed concoction was a creation for his girlfriend who, you guessed it, was a salt lover. And, if you couldn’t guess – her name was Margarita. As a socialite, Margarita loved the drink so much that she insisted it be served to her friends. The fondness grew, the drink evolved, and the rest is history.

So now that we have your thirst level on the rise, let’s look at a few of the favorites here at Stella Blu! 

Traditional Margarita

One of the most classic ways to enjoy a margarita is traditional style. While we like mixing ours up with blanco tequila, the drink is easily modified to include your favorite type of tequila. Add a little triple sec, squeeze fresh lime, a dash of oj and simple syrup – and enjoy! 

Mermaid Margarita

This house favorite adds a bit of sweetness to the classic margarita. Again, we use blanco tequila but can modify the type of tequila to your preference! Combine this with blue curacao, pineapple and  lime juices and you have yourself a tropical little concoction that will surely get the job done!

Fuzzyrita

Another customer favorite when it comes to margaritas with a sweet twist is our Fuzzyrita! This margarita combines tequila with peach schnapps, fresh muddled peach, and lime juice for the perfect ending to any day! Or lunch – who are we to judge?

Cranberry Jalapeno Margarita
